Strategy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment in WA Health
WA Health is now directly focusing on increasing Aboriginal employment in public hospitals and community health services. We are planning long-term Aboriginal employment initiatives which aim to help improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people.
The Health Reform Committee 2004 recommended:
- Increased numbers of Aboriginal health professionals should be employed in the Western Australian public health system.
- Employment targets should be set in area performance agreements to achieve this.
