Delivering a Healthy WA
Office of Aboriginal Health

Action strategy for Aboriginal men's health and wellbeing

Better risk management

Identify ways to reduce the levels of illness and death of Aboriginal men in Western Australia, including screening and preventative health strategies and social and emotional wellbeing.

Improve access and service

Develop a "male friendly" approach to improve access to WA Health services by Aboriginal men, including workforce development considerations.

Engage Aboriginal men and stakeholders in planning, design and delivery

Develop a statewide engagement program to ensure Aboriginal men are properly engaged in a shared vision for improving their health status.

Holistic and cultural principles

Reflect the way Aboriginal men view their own health and healthcare services. Incorporate the Cultural Respect Implementation Framework (PDF 146KB) to ensure service provision within the health system does not compromise the cultural rights, views, values and expectations of Aboriginal people.
